Master Sports 2-2 at nationals

The Master Sports fastpitch team finished up a successful weekend at the ASA National C Tournament in Sacramento, CA. After drawing a first round bye, Master Sports defeated a team from Stockton, CA, 6-0 behind a grand slam home run from Andy Smith and the pitching performance of Alan Powell.

In their second game of the tournament, Master Sports defeated a team from Sacramento with Smith, David Curtiss and Rob Watson all getting key hits. Ryan Divish picked up the win on the mound.

But Master Sports suffered it's first defeat losing in the round of 16 to the Manor Park Rangers from Texas, 5-4 in a tightly played game. Watson finished the game 3-3 with an inside the park homerun while Divish went 2-3 with a solo home run. Manor Park went on to finish fifth in the tournament.

Master Sports was then eliminated by former national champions Vanguard Inc. from New Jersey, 8-0.

Team members also include: Mike Sherrill, Neal Samoy, Josh Kirby, Bob Evans Jr. and Andy Anderson.

It was the third appearance at the ASA National tournament for Master Sports. Their best finish came in 1997 when they finished third overall.
