Author speaks in Havre

Ellen Baumler, author of "Spirit Tailings: Ghost Tales of Virginia City, Butte, and Helena," will appear at a Sept. 18 luncheon at the Heritage Center in Havre.

Sponsored by the Clack Foundation, the luncheon costs $15 and is open to the public. It will run from noon to 1 p.m.

Following lunch, Baumler will appear at a book signing from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. at the Clack Museum in the Heritage Center.

"Spirit Tailings" is a new book published by the Montana Historical Society Press, offering a well-researched look at ghost stories from the legendary towns of Virginia City, Butte and Helena.

Baumler has worked for the Historical Society since 1992 researching homes and places for Montana's National Register of Historic Places interpretive sign program. She has a doctorate from the University of Kansas in English, classics and history.
