Hi-Line Round-up

Another weekend of local Hi-Line high school football is in the books. As the dust settles, many area teams are still in search of that elusive first victory of the season.

Friday night, the Chinook Sugarbeeters fell to the Glasgow Scotties in District 2B action 40-14 in Glasgow. Kelan Broadhead scored both touchdowns for the 'Beeters including a 75-yard kickoff return. The Scotties were paced on offense by running back Tyler Edwards, who gained 113 yards on the ground. The 'Beeters are 0-2 overall and 0-1 in district play. They will be in action Friday night against Harlem for their home opener.

Also in District 2B action, the Plentywood Wildcats routed the Harlem Wildcats 48-6 in Harlem. Plentywood led 28-0 at halftime and never looked back as six different Wildcat players reached the end zone. Harlem's only score came on a nine-yard TD pass from Colby Fetter to Daniel Werk in the the third quarter. Harlem is 0-2 overall on the season and 0-1 in 2B play. The Wildcats visit Chinook on Friday night.

In Chester, the Belt Huskies downed the Coyotes 54-8. Chester's Patrick Walstad scored the only touchdown of the night for the Coyotes on a 75-yard kickoff return. The Huskies were led by running back Sam Leritz, who reached the end zone four times. The Coyotes are now 0-2 on the season and will next face Hays-Lodge Pole on Saturday in Hays.

Also on Friday night, the Big Sandy Pioneers were beaten by the Power-Dutton-Great Falls Central Titans 36-20 in Big Sandy. The Pioneers were led by Matt Myers, who scored on a 17-yard pass play from Gage Brumwell in the first quarter. Skylar Pearson added a 65-yard TD run in the first stanza as well. The Titans scored 18 unanswered points in the second quarter to take the lead for good. Big Sandy (0-2) will visit Sunburst on Saturday.

On Saturday in Heart Butte, the Blue Sky/KG Eagles reeled off 27 first-quarter points en route to a 47-6 victory over the Heart Butte Warriors. The Eagles gained 220 yards rushing in the game. The Eagles are now 2-0 on the young season and will next play at Power-Dutton-Great Falls Central in Power on Saturday.

Also in Northern C action on Saturday, the Centerville Miners ripped the Hays-Lodge Pole T-Birds 50-6 in Centerville. The T-Birds' only touchdown came on a 37-yard pass play from Nate Martin to Steven Shambo in the fourth quarter. The T-Birds (1-1) will host Chester on Saturday.

In six-man action, the J-I Rams defeated the Rocky Boy Stars 60-12 in Rocky Boy. The Rams were paced by Matt Tempel, who rushed for three touchdowns and took a kickoff back 65 yards for a TD, as well. Brent Pimley also ran an interception back 26 yards for a score. The Stars' touchdowns were both by Robert Sunchild, who scored on runs of 52 and 47 yards. J-I is now 1-1 and will host Geraldine on Saturday. The Stars are 0-2 and will visit Lambert on Saturday.

In Box Elder, the Box Elder Bears were shut out by the Geyser Wranglers 57-0. J.D. Schmitt scored three times including a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown. The Wranglers have yet to give up a point this season. Box Elder is now 0-2 and will travel to Brady on Saturday.
