FLOYD HOPKINS, Obituary

GLASGOW-FORT BELKNAP Floyd Henry Hopkins, 63, a certified mechanic, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, from complications of heart surgery.

Wake services were Sunday evening at the Red Whip Community Center at Fort Belknap. Funeral services were Monday

morning at the Red Whip Community Center with burial following in the Pony Hill Cemetery.

Floyd was born Jan. 2, 1939, at Fort Belknap, the son of Abel Hopkins Sr. and Fola (Bigby) Hopkins. He was raised at Fort Belknap and educated in Harlem and at Flandreau in South Dakota.

He met and married Reitha Morsette in May 1959 in Glasgow. Floyd and Reitha were divorced in 1964.

Floyd married Yvonne "Tilly" Cox in August of 1981. They both came to a better understanding of life and what it takes to build a home and proceeded to live the next 21 wonderful years together as husband and wife.

Floyd worked construction for many years, and after his marriage to Tilly, he decided to return to school in 1984 and became a certified mechanic, a life-long passion. After getting his certificate at age 49 he settled in Glasgow to work and live.

Floyd was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Henry Jr .; brothers, Bill, Spud, Jim, Roland and Indian Hopkins; grandson, Gabriel Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne "Tilly" Hopkins of Glasgow; daughters, Tina Small, Portland "Kitty" Walsh of Rocky Boy and Tuesday Birdtail of Fort Belknap; son, Kenneth Blackbird of Fort Belknap; sisters, Lillian Hopkins of Whitefish, Donna Black Eagle of Nashua and Penny Bercier of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
