Boys cross country club

The Havre High Cross Country Club had a successful weekend at the Flathead Invitational Cross Country Meet held at the Glacier View Cross Country Course in Kalispell.

The Blue Ponies finished ninth out of 16 teams which featured AA and A schools from western Montana along with a pair of schools from Idaho.

"They did really well," said coach Ron Watson. "They were up against some pretty tough competition."

Individually, the Ponies were led by Kasey Barsotti who finished 31st with a time of 18:59. Teammate Jeff Sprinkle, who is still battling the effects from a broken foot this past spring, finished 44th with a 19:31.

Newcomer Kyle Baltrusch finished 60th with a 18:06, a new personal record. Andy Meyer's also had a personal best of 18:30 , while Evan Olson ran a solid time of 18:59.

While they are not a sanctioned sport, the boy's cross country club will travel with the girl's cross country team to Cut Bank on Friday.

"There should be some pretty good teams," Watson said. "Browning is very tough along with Heart Butte."
