LEONA SCHWAN, Obituary

HUNGRY HORSE Leona Schwan, 72, died at her home in Hungry Horse Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, of natural causes.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Leona was born Oct. 5, 1929, at Babb to George and Rebecca (Whitford) Salois.

Leona received her early education in Babb before moving to Havre, where she met Anton Schwan Jr. They later married in Malta.

Leona worked various jobs in Havre. She was a waitress at Charlie's, a nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital, and a worker at the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

Leona was active in local Catholic church, was a member of the St. Ann's Circle, and enjoyed volunteering at St. Jude/Havre Central School. Her interests included sewing, quilting, cooking, bowling and playing games with her kids. She also enjoyed bingo, her animals, berry picking and gardening.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Anton in 1997; sons, Andrew and Terry; and her parents.

Survivors include her daughters, Sande, Marcy and Trudy; sons, Daryll, Harlan, Jamie and Randall; sisters, Terry, Bing and Elvena; brothers, Joe, Lee and Ron; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; best friend and cousin, Hazel Alvarado; her niece, Blue Christopherson.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude/Havre Central School, 420 Seventh Ave., Havre, MT 59501.

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
