Blue Pony spikers host Chinook

For the first time this season, the Havre High volleyball team will be in the friendly confines of the Havre High Gymnasium as they take on the Chinook Sugarbeeters Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Ponies (4-4, 2-0) are coming off of two very tough weeks of competition in which they played several games in the same day. In particular, last Friday where they played seven games in one day at the Electric City Classic in Great Falls.

Havre head coach Lacy Anderson is looking forward to her team getting a little rest as they only play one match this week.

"Great Falls was a really tough weekend for us," Anderson said. "We played a lot of games and didn't have very good results. So where really looking forward to playing this one match against Chinook."

Although it is just one match, Anderson's troops aren't taking the Beeters lightly.

"Every time I look in the paper Chinook has been winning games so I know their going to be a competitive team," Anderson said. "I have been a little nervous about this match because they have a new team so we're not really sure what to expect. But, I do expect them to give us a really tough match though," Anderson added.

The Beeters come into the contest led by first year head coach Jay Eslick. They are led on the court by senior standout Jessica Hollingsworth as well as senior Holly Dennis and junior Shaylan Haugen.

Another obstacle for the Ponies will be overcoming a couple key injuries. Alicia Overcast is still feeling the effects of an ankle sprain that occurred last Friday in Great Falls. Jeanna McPherson is also playing on an injured ankle, but Anderson does expect both girls to play on Saturday night.

"Both girls aren't one hundred percent but they'll be ready to go," Anderson said. "We have had an up and down week of practice and we're coming off a rough weekend, but I think we're improving as time goes on."

"We have worked mostly on fundamentals all week so I think the girls are excited for Saturday," Anderson added.

The match begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Havre High Gymnasium with the freshman and JV matches scheduled for 4:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m..
