HHS golf sweeps in Lewistown

The Havre High golf team won both the boys and girls' competition at the Lewistown High School Invitational held at the Judith Shadows Golf Course in Lewistown.

On the boys' side, Havre's Chazz Hurlburt took medalist honors with a 76. Teammate Eric Ward finished second with a 79, while Trent Normandy and Jon Johnstone finished tied for third each shooting an 81. Ben Erickson finished with an 86.

As a team, the Ponies shot a 317 50 strokes ahead of second place Lewistown.

"That's a pretty good score," Evenson said. "We played Judith Shadows which is a pretty tough course."

The Pony girls also took team honors shooting a 457 total. Ryan Hamilton finished third with a 108, while Brittany Job and Mikyla Veis finished fourth and fifth with a 111 and 118, respectively. Other finishers for the Ponies were Amanda Brock with a 120 and Heather Bowker with a 122.

Havre also won easily won the boys JV tournament. Ryan Safley finished first with a 83. Other Havre players included: Brandon Morse 86, Ben Milam 93, Kelly Lamb 88, Tony Jensen 96, Cory Stremcha 98, Richard Jarvis 98, C.J. Cavin 106, Travis Meyer 118, Logan Beilke 122 and Tanner Veis 123.

The Blue Ponies will be off for more than a week before traveling to Kalispell-Whitefish for the Flatfish Invitational on Sept. 26-27.
