ORLIN NELSON, Obituary

Orlin Eugene Nelson, 75, a retired railroad worker, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, of natural causes at a Havre hospital.

A formal visitation will be held at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church Thursday at 10 a.m. A committal service will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church following the interment.

Orlin E. Nelson was born May 18,1927, to Bert and Agnes (Jordahl)

Nelson in Emmets-burg, Iowa. In 1932 the family moved to Willmar, Minn. Orlin attended the Willmar Elementary School and then Willmar High School.

In 1944 he left school and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1946 he was discharged and returned to Willmar, Minn. In 1948 he went to work for the railroad as a machinist. In 1949 he moved to Great Falls and then in 1951 to Havre.

While in Willmar, he met June Anthony. The couple married in Lennox, S.D., January 29, 1951. To this union four sons were born. June passed away in 1988.

Orlin enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and traveling and dancing with his wife June. He was a member of the VFW, the Eagles, and a founding member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Orlin was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Agnes (Jordahl) Nelson, and his wife, June A. Nelson.

He is survived by sons, David (Robin) Nelson of Maple Grove, Minn., Paul Nelson of Havre, Rolly (Denise) Nelson of Lewistown, Terry (Michelle) Nelson of Denver, Colo.; sister, Marmion (Leonard) Birkland of Hope, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials in Orlin's Honor may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 417 20th Street, Havre, MT 59501

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
