DONALD COOPER, Obituary

Donald Frank Cooper, 66, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at a Great Falls hospital of lung cancer.

An open house in his memory will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at 423 12th Ave. in Havre.

Cremation has taken place.

Don was born Jan. 12, 1936, at Montevideo, Minn.

He married Mary Ann Gitthens on Sept. 1, 1955, in Casper, Wyo.

Don and Mary Ann settled in Havre, where Don managed the Safeway Bakery. He later worked as a custodian at Northern Montana College. He retired in 1996, after 20 years at the school.

Don enjoyed fishing, traveling to Las Vegas, gardening, going on cruises and spending time with his grandchildren and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Cooper; brother, Rodger Cooper; and sisters, Carol Cooper and Joyce Cooper; and parents, Glenn and Bernice Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Cooper of Havre; daughter, Rochelle of Havre; sons, Ronald and Russell, both of Havre, Randy of Bend, Ore., Richard of Everett, Wash., and Rodney of Great Falls; sisters, Jean Tapio of Rapid City, S.D., Helen Bryan of Grand Junction, Colo., Jenny Litke of Casper, Wyo., Delores Sponone of Alameda, Calif., Arlene Baughman of Kounpee, Texas; brothers, Glenn Cooper of Fort Collins, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Gift of Life in Great Falls.

Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
