LUCILE WARFORD, Obituary

Lucile M. Warford, 72, of Havre died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at a Great Falls hospital after complications of lung-liver cancer.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church, with a reception to follow. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Custer

County Cemetery in Miles City, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Reception will follow at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.

Lucile (Lucy) was born at her Aunt Mary DuRussell's house next to the Yellowstone River in Miles City on June 2, 1930, to James D. and Magdaline (Wiepert) Carter.

She attended Sacred Heart grade school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School.

Shortly after graduation she married Bill E. Viall. They later divorced. To this union six children were born.

On March 13, 1970 in Sheridan, Wyo., Lucile married Oris M. Warford. With their marriage Oris brought four additional children.

While residing in Miles City she was involved in March of Dimes and Displaced Homemak-ers. In 1989 she moved to Havre, where she was involved in as a volunteer at Northern Montana Hospital and Americorp reading program. She was employed at the Havre Public Schools as an office assistant and a paraprofessional at Lincoln-McKinley until retiring in August 2002.

Her pleasures consisted of reading, sewing, playing cards, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She attended Fifth Avenue Christian Church in Havre.

Lucile was preceded in death by her father, James D. Carter; granddaughter, Fawn M. Warford; husband, Oris M. Warford; grandsons, Treyton Pierce and Keenan Viall; sister, Laurain Powell; and infant granddaughter.

Survivors include her mother, Magdaline Carter of Miles City; children, James E. (Margo) Viall of Mount Vernon, Wash., Don J. (Sherry) Viall of Sidney, Paula R. (Donald) Wargo of Burlington, Wash., Marla Warford of Havre, Becky L. (Travis) Willson of Winifred, and Brenda J. (Jim) Evans of Havre, Diane (Dennis) Pierce of Kent, Wash., Herb (Sue) Warford, Price Warford and Hugh (Ania) Warford, all of Florence; aunt, Margaret Carter of Miles City; sister, LaVawn Guerechit of Oregon; brother, Jim (Peg) Carter of Chester; brother-in-law Joe Powell of Billings; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and the family of the Havre Public Schools.

Funeral arrangements have been made under the direction of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City.
