JV, freshmen football earn wins

Gary Wagner's short pass to Scott Robinson for a two-point conversion gave the Havre High junior varsity football team a 15-14 victory over the Lewistown junior varsity on Saturday.

Trailing 14-7 in the fourth quarter, Wagner hooked up with Marc Mariani for a 45-yard- touchdown pass, which set up the key two point conversion.

Wagner had a big day for the Ponies. He hooked up with Coda Tschida on a 40-yard touchdown pass in the fist quarter the Ponies other score. Wagner kicked the extra point.

With the win, the Pony JV improved its record to 5-2 on the season.

The freshman football team also picked up a 28-20 win on Saturday against the Lewistown freshman squad.

Quarterback, Jeremy Giardina ran for three touchdowns, while teammate Jessie The Boy added another score, a two point conversion run and kicked a pair of extra points in the win.

The Ponies also got solid defensive performances from Jared Weigel and Josh Morris. Weigel tallied seven tackles, four sacks and two fumble recoveries, while Morris intercepted a pair of passes in the win.

The Havre High freshmen will be in action on Saturday when they host Malta at 9 a.m.. The junior varsity will travel to Malta on Monday with game time scheduled for 5 p.m..
