RUTH ERICKSON, Obituary

Ruth M. Erickson, 79, a Havre homemaker, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at a Shelby hospital due to rare Dendridic cell lymphoma.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church in Havre. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Highland

Cemetery in Great Falls. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 8 p.m. at the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby and Monday at the First Lutheran Church in Havre one hour before the service.

Ruth was born Oct. 4, 1923, at Kooskia, Idaho, to Miles and Helen (Fitzgerald) Marsh. She moved to Billings with her parents as a child and later to Great Falls where she graduated from high school.

She also attended Montana State University for two years.

Ruth moved to California during World War II for a time and then back to Great Falls, where she married William Erickson on March 10, 1949, at Great Falls. The couple lived in Belgrade and Helena before moving to Havre in 1966. She was a housewife, but also owned and operated Four Seasons Hobbies from 1975 to 1990.

She was a member of Business and Professional Women and the Mayflower Society. Ruth enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, operating ham radio, flying, genealogy, tutoring at Havre elementary schools and working as a library volunteer.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Louise Ellis, Betty McLarney and Helen Peed.

Survivors include her children, Eve Jacobson of Shelby, Ellen (Jim) White of Rochelle Ill., and Eric Erickson of Spokane, Wash.; brothers, Phillip Marsh of Boise, Idaho, and Miles Marsh of Billings; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice or to the Havre Public Schools elementary libraries.
