PETER SIEMENS, Obituary

HARLEM Peter Jacob Siemens, 88, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at a Chinook nursing home due to natural causes.

Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. today in the Harlem High School gymnasium. A horse-drawn hearse will escort the family and friends to the Harlem Cemetery.

Peter was born Feb. 26, 1914, to Jacob and Marie (Klatt) Siemens on the homestead north of Chinook. He was raised and attended country school north of Chinook.

Peter married Edna Braunstadter on Feb. 26, 1942, in Great Falls.

Pete was a well-known cowboy in the area and broke many horses over the years. Many of the horses he broke in the early 1940s were sold to the cavalry during World War II. Pete also worked construction in Bozeman for five years and returned to Harlem when he retired.

Peter was preceded in death by his son, Peter Jacob Siemens Jr. in 1972.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Siemens of Harlem; daughters, Peggy (George) Zavalney of Bozeman, Penny (Roger) Snider of Harlem, Patricia (Todd) Ruff of Belgrade; son, Patrick (Wilma) Siemens of Bigfork; sisters, Martha Rutherford of Redding, Calif., and Eva LaFranchise of Portland, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
