JEROME HELMBRECHT, Obituary

Jerome James "Troop" Helmbrecht, 79, veteran and retired Vita Rich Dairy employee died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at his Havre residence of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. The memorial service is 1 p.m. Thursday at the Holland and Bonine Chapel with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial with full military honors is to follow the service at Highland Cemetery.

Troop was born Aug. 3, 1923, to Sebastian and Alice A. (Dinkel) Helmbrecht at Long Prairie, Minn. He attended school at Long Prairie through the eighth grade.

Troop was enlisted in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea. After his honorable discharge in 1953, he traveled and later settled in Havre, gaining employment with Vita Rich Dairy. He retired from Vita Rich in the late 1970s after 30 years of dedicated service.

On Aug. 16, 1956, he married Isabell Evanson at Havre. The couple resided in Havre.

Troop enjoyed fishing, watching golf and telling stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; wife, Isabell A. Helmbrecht, on March 14, 2002; stepson, Donnie Newbauer; and sisters, Rosie Brooks and Una Bodle.

He is survived by his brother, Bill Helmbrecht of Sauk Center, Minn.; sister in-law, Dorothy Helmbrecht of Sauk Center, Minn.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
