CHINOOK Bernadette "Bernie" Dee Stokes, 73, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at a Havre hospital due to natural causes.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.

Bernie was born on Feb. 12, 1929, in Hampton, Minn., to George and

Helen

Doffing. She was raised there and graduated from Hampton High School. In 1950, she married Carl F. Schulte and they lived in Marshall, Minn. They divorced in 1968.

In 1970, she married Sam Stokes. They purchased the Aero Lounge in Chinook in 1970 and she operated the business since then.

Bernie loved animals and had two dogs at home. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo.

Bernie was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Stokes, in 1984, and her parents.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Schulte and Gale Schulte, both of Chinook, and one sister who lives out of state.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
