ROSE CONNOR, Obituary

HAYS Rose "Rosie" Main Connor, 85, Na-Ga-N-Do (Hollers At Night), died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at a Havre hospital.

Wake and rosary will be today at 7 p.m. in the Mission Recreation Center. Funeral Mass will be recited at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Mission Recreation Center with burial following in the Mission Cemetery.

Rosie was born at Fort Belknap on Aug. 6, 1917, to Thomas Main and Josephine Brockie. She was raised in Hays by her uncle, Clarence Brockie. She attended school at Fort Belknap and Chemawa Indian School in Oregon.

In 1937, Rosie married Raymond "Rum" Buckley Connor, her one and only love. They had a son and adopted another. They lived in Hays, spent a few years in Oswego, then moved back to Hays.

Rosie loved working in her garden in Hays and always loved to crochet and do other types of crafts until her hands and fingers would not allow her to anymore. She collected and loved to read Reader's Digest. Rosie enjoyed company and just to have people spend a night or day or two with her as when her husband, Rum, died in 1964.

She moved to Oakland, Calif., to work at a nursing home as an LPN and to Glasgow, where she also worked as an LPN at a nursing home. She moved back to Hays and raised her grandchildren for a time and then moved to Fort Belknap to be close to the hospital for health reasons. She lived there until she moved into the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre and then into the hospital when she became ill.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father and mother; son, Raymond "Buckley" Connor; four brothers; six sisters; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her son Thomas "Tommy" (Carol) Cochran of Fort Belknap; adopted daughter, Kathie Limpy of Fort Belknap; sisters, Dorothy Main Kinsey, Myra Main Walker, Annie Brockie Helgeson, all of Fort Belknap, and Mary Brockie Hayes of Oswego; brothers, Elmer (Elizabeth) Main of Hays, James "Jim" (Vernie) Main of Big Warm, Gerald (Christine) Main of Lodge Pole, Jerome (Nellie) Main of Hays, and Henry "Prince" (Ruby) Brockie of Hays; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
