GERHARD OBIE, Obituary

CHINOOK Gerhard T. Obie, 88, longtime Blaine County farmer, died peacefully at his home of natural causes after attending church services Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the American Lutheran Church with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Gerhard was born July 28, 1914,eight miles south of

Kremlin to Gunder and Amelia (Gjevre) Obie. He attended schools in Havre and Chinook and graduated from Chinook High School in 1932.

Gerhard farmed the family farm and later purchased the farm and other farms. Throughout his life, he enjoyed farming with John Deere implements. During his early years, he worked the winter months at the U&I Sugar Factory in Chinook.

Gerhard was an active member of the American Lutheran Church, an avid sportsman who taught hunter safety courses, and a member of the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Gerhard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edgar G. Obie in 1993; and sister, Gladys Sargent in 1999.

Survivors include his sister, Ella Sargent of Billings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to the American Lutheran Church of the National Rifle Association.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
