GARY RUSSELL, Obituary

Gary Floyd "Jones" Russell, 59, of Cascade died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at a Great Falls hospital.

Visitation will be held Tuesday in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Forsyth Cemetery in Forsyth.

Gary was born in Bozeman on Nov. 27, 1942, to Paul and Agatha (Schelin) Russell. Gary attended schools in Rosebud and Miles City. He worked for the Model Bakery in Miles City, then Buttery Foods.

In 1971, Gary moved to Havre and became bakery manager. He later moved to Billings. In 1981, longing for the mountains, he finally settled in Helena as the bakery manager at Buttrey Foods. Gary made his home in Cascade on the Hardy Creek, in the heart of the canyon.

Gary married Carol Sue Tuttle on Nov. 9, 1991.

Gary was a hunter and excellent fisherman. He was at his best when he took his boys hunting and fishing. He shared the Native American concept that while hunting, the animal through the Great Spirit, simply presented itself. He also believed that the Earth was the mother of all creatures.

He was preceded in by his father, Paul Leonard Russell; mother, Agatha Julie Russell; grandparents, Martin and Florence Schelin and Jim and Martha Russell; sister, Marcile Ploof; and brother, Algie Russell.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Sue Russell of Cascade; sons, Wade Russell and Greg (Melissa) Russell, both of Havre, Gary Wayne Russell of Helena, and Dustin Iszler of Cascade; daughters, Brandy (Paul) Neuman of Campbellsberg, Ky., and Michelle Kraus, Dawn Uehara and Spring Iszler, all of Great Falls; brother, James (Darlene) Russell of Miles City; sister, Leone Russell of Missoula; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many special loved nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth is in charge of the arrangements.
