Man free on bail arrested on new drug charges

Thomas Walter Anderson, 40, of Havre was arrested Thursday afternoon on separate charges of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs and criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute.

Anderson is accused of selling 3.8 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant of the Tri-Agency Task Force on Oct. 24. He is also accused of possessing about 15 grams of meth found during the execution of search warrant on Sept. 19, according to court documents.

Anderson was released from jail on Oct. 15 on $25,000 bond. He had been incarcerated on a separate charge of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs related to an incident on Dec. 18, 2001, where he was accused of selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant.

Cyndee Peterson, Hill County deputy county attorney, filed the first charge on July 25. An arrest warrant was issued, and drug task force agents served the warrant and arrested Anderson on Sept. 19, the court documents said.

While in transport to the jail, Anderson told task force agents that he had methamphetamine stored at his home, Peterson said in an affidavit.

Task force agents obtained a search warrant and found a safe containing cash, dangerous drugs, guns and a ledger of drug transactions, according to court documents.

Before a charge could be filed related to the search and seizure, Anderson posted bond and was released. Task force agents then organized the unrelated drug buy on Oct. 24, Peterson said today.

Anderson has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and is being held at the Hill County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
