Class B sweeps ABC tournament

Kandice Kelly can add another award to her lengthy volleyball resume. The Roundup senior picked up Most Valuable Setter honors as she led the Class B all-stars to a pair of wins at the Class ABC all-star tournament held Saturday at the MSU-Northern gymnasium.

Kelly, who last week led Roundup to its fourth consecutive state title, finished the weekend with 57 assists, 23 digs, 15 kills and seven aces.

The Class B squad swept the matches and the awards. The B all-stars defeated both Class A and Class C teams quite handily, needing only three games in each match.

Besides Kelly, Deer Lodge's Patti Anderson was named the Most Valuable Attacker, finishing 15 kills, eight digs, five blocks and three aces. Huntley Project's Nicole Kruse was named the Most Valuable Libero, finishing with 26 digs in two matches.

In the other match of the day the Class A squad defeated Class C 25-22, 25-27, 25-13 and 25-16. Lewistown's Dani Buehler led the Class A all-stars with 14 kills. Libby's Danielle Armstrong notched an impressive 10 aces in the match.

Class C was led by Renae Knerr, who finished with five kills and 12 digs.

The Class B ended Class A recent dominance in the tournament. Class A had won the last three.
