Skylights earn first win of the season

The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season. The Skylights defeated the University of Mary 78-73 Friday night at the University of Great Falls Argo Classic held on the UGF campus.

Northern had five players who scored in double figures, led by Katie Zilkoski's career high 22 points. Zilkoski, who prepped at Wolf Point, knocked down 9 of 14 shots including three three-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Skylights backcourt duo of Anna Bateman and Davina Shoemake scored 15 and 12 points, respectively. Nichole Neill and Khadiga Mohamed added 10 apiece.

Northern forced the Lady Marauders into 20 turnovers while committing only nine.

Mary was led by Natalie Brunner with 19 points.

The Skylights' November road trip continues as they travel to Spokane to take on NCAA Division I opponent Gonzaga tonight.
