WOODROW SKINNER, Obituary

Woodrow "Woody" J. Skinner, 84, retired businessman, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service is 2 p.m. today at the Holland and Bonine Chapel with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial with

full military honors to follow service at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon to follow interment at the VFW Club.

Woody was born April 22, 1918, to David B. and Louise (Henry) Skinner at Box Elder. He was educated at Box Elder, Devlin, Lincoln, McKinley and Havre High schools.

In 1941, Woody entered the U.S. Army. He served his country during World War II. When he was honorably discharged in 1945, he was a T Sgt.

On March 11, 1946, Woody married Louise M. Baker at Havre. They had three children. He worked for Lee Garding at Lee's Tavern from 1946 to 1960, when he purchased the bar. He owned and operated Lee's Tavern until selling it and retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed playing cards and watching television football and baseball. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Havre Post 497, and 37 years with Eagles Aerie #166.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Woody is survived by his wife, Louise M. Skinner of Havre; brothers, Ted (Eleanor) Skinner of Great Falls, Elmer (Barbara) Skinner of Great Falls, Hank (Jo) Skinner of Hayward, Calif., and Lloyd (Mary) Skinner of Orland, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Jean Skinner and Barbara Baker; brother-in-Law, Dean Taylor; son, David (Debbie) Skinner of Havre; daughters, Sharon Skinner of Havre and Linda (Bruce) Harding of Great Falls; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Woody's honor may be made to a person's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
