Ice Hawk hockey season in full swing

The Havre Ice Hawk Midget team finished 2-2 this past weekend at the Sidney Hockey tournament. Havre opened the tournament with a 4-2 victory over the Watford City, ND Oilers. Havre got a pair goals from Brett Patrick and scores from Garret Drake and Jon Johnstone in the win. Goalie Mark Larson picked up 31 saves.

Havre fell 4-2 to the Swift Current Wild in the first of two games on Saturday. Patrick and Drake each had goals in the game while Larson stopped 48 shots. The Ice Hawks rebounded in the second game defeating Crosby, ND 5-4. Chazz Hurlbert scored the game winning goal in the contest. Larson had another solid game in the set stopping 45 shots.

Havre lost its final game of the tournament as Watford City got revenge for the earlier game winning 6-5. Corey Stremcha had two goals and Andy Hanson had a goal and an assist in the loss.

The Havre Ice Hawk Pee Wee A team has also been solid of late, winning three of its last four games. The Ice Hawks split a pair of games against Great Falls on Nov. 23. In Havre's 6-3 victory, Todd Roe scored four goals and added an assist while goalie Cameron Schilling had 10 saves. Havre lost the second game 9-5. Beau and Adam Briese each had a goal while Roe and Shane Kemmer had a goal and two assists each.

The Ice Hawks dominated a pair of games on Dec. 1 against the Helena Bighorns. Havre picked up a 9-0 win in the first game as Roe, Adam Briese and Mason Sheppard scored two goals apiece. Roe and Kemmer also had three assists each. Schilling picked up the shutout stopping 13 shots on goal.

Havre concluded the sweep of Helena with an 11-2 victory in the second game. Roe and Kemmer each had hat tricks in the win while Sheppard added a pair of goals and an assist.

The Havre Ice Hawk Mite team picked up a loss and a tie at Great Falls. The mites were stopped 3-2 in the first game, but rallied for a 12-12 tie in the second game. Danny Roe had a whopping nine goals and two assists in the tie. Katelyn Barrows, Levi Wavrick and Brandt Miller combined for three goals and 10 assists in the game.

The Mites will travel to Butte this weekend for a tournament.

Despite only having eight players because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Havre Ice Hawk Bantam squad split a pair of games against the Bozeman Stingers this past weekend at the Havre Ice Dome.

Havre defeated Bozeman 4-3 on Saturday behind a pair of goals from Austin Small. Goalie David Zentmire had a strong game stopping 33 shots.

Bozeman rallied to defeat Havre on Sunday 4-2. Tyler Boyce and Todd Roe each scored goals in the loss for Havre. Zentmire had 20 saves for the Ice Hawks.
