GLENN ERSKINE, Obituary

CHINOOK Glenn G. Erskine, 83, longtime farmer south of Chinook, died Dec. 3, 2002, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow with military honors in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Glenn was born on June 7, 1919, in Chinook to Eugene and Anna (Paige) Erskine. He attended school at the Central School House and worked on the family farm with his father. Glenn also worked at the coal mine with George Ven Vande before serving with U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was stationed with the 390th Bomber Squadron (M), serving in the South Pacific. He always talked about returning to New Guinea for a visit.

When he returned home, he opened a mechanic's shop at the farm and took over the family farm in 19467.

Glenn married Isabell Hall on Nov. 24, 1946, in Chinook. He retired from farming in 1981, but continued living there until moving to Chinook in 1999.

He is survived by one son, Gary Erskine of Great Falls; brother, Robert Erskine of Chinook; sisters, Norma Wisch and Ruby Jacobson, both of Chinook; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Gift of Life Housing in Great Falls.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
