ERMA MCGUIRE

Erma Louise McGuire, 91, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at a Havre care facility of natural causes.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Bishop Thad J. Willis officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery. A fellowship will be held immediately after the graveside service at a daughter's home.

Erma was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Rock Island, Ill., to Milton and Elsie (Temple) Wilson. She was raised and educated in Rock Island and graduated from Rock Island High School. In November of 1932 Erma married Rudolph E. Bolte in Elkader, Iowa. A mutual friend owned a plane that flew them from Rock Island to Elkader so they could be married. The couple had three children. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1932, then on to Jefferson in 1937 and Davenport in 1942. Erma worked as a secretary at the University of Iowa. The family then moved to California in 1944. Rudolph was in the military and was killed in Holland at the end of World War II. Erma married Glenn McGuire in September of 1948 in Reno, Nev. The couple lived in San Francisco and San Jose, Calif. They had three children. The couple later divorced.

In 1963 Erma moved to Ashland, Ore., where she worked as a custodian, retiring in 1974. In 1990 Erma moved to Havre to be closer to her daughters.

Erma enjoyed knitting, cooking, camping, playing cards, and bingo. She was a member of the relief society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Rudolph Bolte, first husband Rudolph Bolte, second husband Glenn McGuire, brother William Wilson and great-grandson Joshua O'Connell.

Erma is survived by: daughters, Karen Peavey, San Jose, Calif., Suzanne Bolte-O'Connell, Havre, Kathy Millett, Medford, Ore., and Marilyn McGuire, Havre; son, Dennis McGuire of Coleville, Wash.; sister, Mildred Astmos of Salem, Ore., and 23 grandchildren.

Memorials in Erma's honor may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center, 24 W. 13th St., Havre, MT 59501.
