HHS wrestlers fall to Conrad

The Havre High wrestling team traveled to Conrad Saturday night and fell to the host Cowboys in dual action, 44-23. For the Ponies, it was their final regular season meet of the season as the prepare to head to the Central A divisional tournament this weekend in Butte.

In the dual against the Cowboys, the Ponies got a 20-5 technical fall win from Jeff Hedges over Justin Jones at 112 pounds. At 145, Rick Griffis grabbed a win by pinfall over Dan Murr at the 4:19 mark of the match. Daine Solomon also continued his winning ways as he knocked off Aaron Makelky with a pin at the 3:17 mark. Chad Seely has been wrestling well this season, and he continued wrestling well with a pin of Eric Makelky at the 1:25 mark.

The night, however, belonged to the Cowboys. In the middle portion of the dual, Conrad won five straight matches from the 119-pound division to the 140-pound division. Caleb Lockyer pinned Scott Sheppard at the 1:55 mark and Russ Johnson followed that with a 13-3 decision over Michael Sutherland. At 130, Paul Carroll pinned Josh Landgraf at 3:08 and that was followed by a 13-9 win by Trent Zempel over Greg Leyba at 135 pounds. At 140 pounds, Zach Lockyer grabbed a 12-1 win over Chad Zuelke.

The Cowboys also scored wins in the 160, 189 and 275-pound classes enroute to the win.

The Ponies finish the regular season with a solid 14-5 dual record. they will now travel to Butte for the Central A divisional tournament on Saturday.
