All Ice Hawk squads pick up weekend wins

The Havre Ice Hawk varsity boys team hasn't gotten to play a wealth of home games this season. So when they do, they make the most of the it.

The Ice Hawks swept the Helena Bighorns in a pair of games this past weekend at the Havre Ice Dome. On Friday night, Havre got a pair of goals from Mark Benjamin, a goal and an assist from Cody McLain and two assists from Chazz Hurlburt in the win.

The Ice Hawks got two goals from Jon Johnstone on Saturday to complete the sweep with a 4-1 victory. Levi Briese and Hurlburt each added a goal and an assist in the win.

The Ice Hawks varsity and junior varsity squads will both be in action this weekend against Missoula. On Saturday, the varsity takes the ice at 11 a.m. and the JV at 3 p.m. while on Sunday, the varsity gets the early start at 7 a.m. and the JV at 11 a.m. - all games will be held at the Ice Dome.

In other Ice Hawk action, the Bantam squad split a pair of games against the Butte Blues this past weekend at the Ice Dome.

On Saturday morning, Tyler Boyce scored a pair of goals and Nick Nault scored his first goal of the season to lead Havre to a 3-2 victory over Butte. Havre got a quality effort from David Zentmire in goal with 32 saves.

Butte exacted a little revenge on Sunday picking up a 3-1 victory. Michael Erickson scored Havre's lone goal and was assisted by Scott Ladenburg and Will Schilling. Havre trailed 2-1 in the final minutes and Butte was able to pick up its third goal after the Ice Hawks pulled their goalie.

The Ice Hawk Squirt squad was also in action this past Sunday, defeating the Great Falls Hurricanes in a pair of games. In game one of the doubleheader, Jesse Majeres scored two goals and had three assists while Dillon McLain also scored two goals and had two assists to lead Havre to an 8-4 victory.

The Ice Hawks also got goals from Garrett Lambrecht, Chase Rolf, Brett Barros and Jonathan Austin. Goalie Alex Sinclair stopped 13 shots in goal for Havre.

The Squirts completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory in the second game. Barros scored a pair of goals while Majeres added a goal and two assists in the win. Sinclair stopped 12 shots on goal.

The Squirts will be in action this weekend against Bozeman. On Saturday, they will hit the ice at 5 p.m. and on Sunday at 9 a.m. with both games at the Ice Dome.
