A felony arrest warrant was issued for a Lodge Pole man when he failed to appear for a hearing Wednesday on a drug charge.
Jesse Snell Jr., 32, was scheduled to appear in state District Court on a charge of felony possession of methamphetamines. When Snell did not appear, Judge John Warner issued a warrant for his arrest, and set bond at $10,000.
Snell was originally scheduled for a jury trial Wednesday. On Tuesday Hill County Attorney David Rice and Snell's defense attorney, Jeremie Yellin, reached a tentative agreement that called for a deferred sentence in exchange for a guilty plea.
Yellin said he was unable to contact Snell about the agreement, and had not been in touch with his client for at least a week. When Snell failed to appear within a half hour, Warner issued the warrant.
The drug charge stems from an incident Oct. 5, 2001, in which Snell was arrested on a charge of partner or family assault. When deputies were processing Snell into the Hill County Detention Center, they found a small quantity of what they believed to be methamphetamine, the criminal complaint alleged.
The substance was sent to the state crime lab, where it was determined to be methamphetamine, court documents said. Rice filed the felony drug possesion charge on Dec. 28, 2001.
