GIL DEPPMEIER

KALISPELL - Gil Deppmeier, 70, formerly of Hillsboro, Ore., died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Kalispell following a short illness.

He was born in October 1932 to Doris and George Deppmeier at Havre. Gil had fond memories of riding his horse, Lady, and working summers as a ranch hand with his brothers and lifelong friend Bill Sanguine.

After working for the Great Northern Railway, Gil served in the Air Force in Germany during the Korean War. From Europe he was transferred to Portland, where he met and married Donna Barrette. They lived in Oregon for 30 years. He worked as an accountant for the state.

Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Kalispell, where they built a log home in the country with the help of family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; daughters, Dianne Deppmeier and Kathy Lamb; sons, David (Lisa) Deppmeier; brothers, Edwin, Lynn, Virg and Larry Deppmeier; sisters, Miriam Kinzel and Phyllis Robbins; and two granddaughters.
