JOHN WIPF

John Wipf, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Parr officiating. Interment with mili-

tary honors will be held at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the Vets Club immediately after the interment at the cemetery.

John was born July 26, 1916. in Chaseley, N.D., to Joe and Susan (Klensauser) Wipf. He entered into the U.S. Army in 1942. He was in Company C 776 Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served in Tunisia Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Central Europe and Rhineland. He was honorably discharged in June 1945.

He moved to Conrad in 1951 to work for the F.A. Buttrey Co. as a meat cutter. He then moved to Havre in 1954 to work for the Price Rite Meat Market for nine years. In 1963 he went to work for George Gibson and Aaron Swallow at Rocky Mountain Packing Company. He retired in 1978.

John and Ernestine (Chris) Gertson Knutson were married July 24, 1957, at the Methodist Home by the Reverend Owen Arrington. They celebrated their 45th anniversary in July of 2002. John was a member of the Vets, Eagles and Moose lodges at the time of his death.

John enjoyed dancing, playing cards, having coffee and doughnuts every morning at the Oxford Bar with his friends, and playing the machines. He enjoyed visiting with his relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Susan (Klensauser) Wipf; brothers, Paul, Joe, Elmer, Albert and Jake Wipf; sisters, Katie and Emma; and nephew Lyle Wipf.

Survivors include his wife, Chris Wipf of Havre; sons, Jim Wipf of Havre and Bruce Wipf of Havre; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wipf of Minot, N.D., Lydia Wipf of Bismarck, N.D., and Olga (Wipf) Furhman of Fesenden, N.D.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
