LC State ends Skylights season

The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team suffered a cold shooting game at the wrong time. The Skylights were colder than the Havre weather, making just 17-63 shots from the field en route to a 27 percent shooting night.

Conversely, the Lewis-Clark State Warriors couldn't miss, especially from three-point range. The Warriors knocked down 13 three-pointers on their way to a 77-48 victory Monday night in a semifinal game of the Frontier Conference Tournament.

Lewis-Clark (23-8, 12-3 Frontier) will meet Montana-Western in the championship game Tuesday night, a repeat of last season's championship game won by Montana-Western in overtime. Montana-Western defeated Rocky Mountain 90-46 in the other semifinal game.

Five Warrior players sank three-pointer led by Shanta Coleman, who made four in scoring a game-high 15 points. Alicia Hazlett added 12 points while Cami Kleibflesch chipped in with 10.

Lewis-Clark never trailed in the game, with Coleman hitting a 3-point shot on the first possession and the Warriors scoring the first eight points.

Northern tried desperately to get back into the game, but many Northern runs were killed by LC State three-pointers.

Khadiga Mohamed had 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Lights while Katie Zilkoski added 11 points and 11 boards off the bench.

Northern ended its season with a 9-6 record in the Frontier and 19-15 overall.
