Bateman, Ray earn Frontier all-conference honors

Montana State University-Northern's Anna Bateman earned first team all-conference honors in Frontier Conference.

Bateman, a transfer from University of Idaho, led the Skylights in scoring for much of the season before being sidelined by a broken foot with four games remaining in the season.

The junior guard hails from Rupert, Idaho and was averaging 13 points per game before her injury.

Former Big Sandy standout Charla Ray also earned first-team honors for the Carroll College Saints. The senior post player averaged 12 points and eight rebounds a game for the Saints.

Former Skylight guard Jenny Balgua also earned first-team honors for the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears.

Senior forward Bobbi Suhr of UM-Western was named player of the year in the Frontier Conference while coach-of-the year honors went to Western's Kevin Engellant.

Western won the women's basketball championship Tuesday night as Suhr, of Harrison, poured in 24 points.
