Mite squad adds to Ice Hawk success

The Havre Ice Hawk Mite squad capped its season on a high note capturing the Montana State Mite hockey tournament.

The Ice Hawks punctuated a 3-0-1 record in the tournament with a 5-2 win over Great Falls in the championship.

Danny Roe scored four goals and Katelyn Barros added the Ice Hawks' other goal while Brandt Miller added three assists in the win. The goalkeeper combination of Jon Reece Stoner and Joey DeVries combined for 15 saves.

Havre opened the tournament with a 7-2 win over the Billings blue squad. Roe scored four goals while Barros, Miller and Levi Wavrick each added goals in the win. Stoner had a solid 10 saves in the net for the Ice Hawks.

Havre picked up its second win of the tournament with a 6-4 win over the Missoula Bruins. Roe and Miller scored two goals and dished out two assists each while Barros and Wavrick each added goals in the win. Stoner finished with seven saves.

The Ice Hawks skated to a 6-6 tie in their third game of the tournament. Roe scored four goals and had two assists while Miller added two goals and assisted on three Roe goals. Stoner had eight saves in the tie.

The Ice Hawk Mite squad was sponsored this season by Northern Montana Hospital and Havre Laundry.

In all this season, the Havre Youth Hockey program has captured three state titles (squirts, bantams and high school). Havre can add a fourth as its Bantam squad travels to Miles City for the state tournament this weekend.
