ELIZABETH SOLNICKA obituary

Elizabeth Solnicka, 80, formerly of Havre, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at a Kennewick, Wash., hospice of natural causes.

The funeral service has taken place in Washington. Viewing in Havre will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Holland and Bonine Funeral Home. Graveside services will

be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Highland Cemetery with Pastor Catherine Card officiating.

Elizabeth was born on Nov. 11, 1922, to Fred and Emma (Olhauser) Stolz in Laredo. Her parents homesteaded a farm in Laredo and later moved to Havre to farm. She was raised with two brothers and three sisters.

In 1941 Elizabeth and Joseph Solnicka Jr. were wed in Lewistown. They farmed and ranched in Havre, while raising two daughters and a son. They owned and operated a motel in Havre.

Elizabeth moved to Kennewick, Wash., in 1977 to be closer to her children. Shortly after she moved to Richland and became a micrographic technician at Washington Public Power Supply System. She retired in September 1987.

Elizabeth loved to garden and cook. One of her favorite activities was arts and crafts of many types. Canning fruit in the summer months was another favorite pastime she enjoyed.

Elizabeth was a person who loved meeting new people. She was one to initiate a conversation and make a new friend. She was truly a people person and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Solnicka Jr.; daughter, Sharon (Robert) Jones; brothers, Henry Stolz and Alfred Stolz; sisters, Viola (Ed) Deppmeier, Lydia (Roy) Nault, and Emma (Charles) Hyslop.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Karen) Solnicka of Richland; daughter, BJ (George) Schroder of Richland; son in-law Robert Jones of Kelso, Wash.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Washington arrangements are under the direction of the Einan's Funeral Home in Richland, Wash. Montana arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home in Havre.
