KG's Crites signs to play football for Carroll

Another Hi-Line prep football player will be joining the ranks of the Class of 2003 seniors to play football in the NAIA Conference.

KG KouGar Casey Crites recently signed an NAIA National letter of intent to play football for the defending national champion Carroll College Saints and head coach Mike Van Diest.

The 6-2, 185-pound Crites will play wide receiver and is expected to redshirt next season. Crites was also being recruited by the University of Mary and Dickinson State University before choosing to play for the Saints.

However, the decision to play football in college was not an easy one.

"I actually had been divided between either going to Carroll, or walking on at Montana State to run track," Crites said. "It was a tough decision, but I feel in the end, Carroll seemed like the right choice."

Crites also said that his brother Rhett, who is the kicker for the Saints, helped some in the decision process.

"We talked about it together some," Crites said. "But in the end, he just said that it was my decision to make. I feel that I have made the right one."

Crites will bring a solid athletic resume to Carroll and an impressive 4.0 GPA.

He earned all-state, and all-conference honors this past football season and was also all-conference his junior season. In basketball, Crites is a two-time all-conference and all-division selection, and earned all-state honors this past season.

Crites is also the two-time defending Class C state high jump champion.

At present time he is undecided as to what degree he will pursue at the prestigious school.
