UGF forward transfers to Northern hoop team

Montana State University-Northern men's basketball coach Shawn Huse has added another big man to next year's squad. Pathe Yatera, a 6-6 forward, is transferring to the Lights from conference foe University of Great Falls.

Yatera, who hails from Paris, France, averaged eight points and five rebounds per game for the Argos last season spending time as a starter and a reserve. He led the team in blocked shots with 26 and was second on the team in rebounding.

With the loss of big men Charlie Ereaux and Kent Douglas, Yatera should find immediate playing time in the Lights frontcourt next season.

"We are very excited that Pathe wants to be a part of our team," Huse said. "On the court, he brings the added size we are looking for. He goes very hard after rebounds and loose balls and can force opponents to adjust their shots with his long arms."

Besides being a solid defender and rebounder, Huse believes that Yatera's game offensively will blossom.

"He can stretch the defense with his shooting range from the perimeter as well as score some around the basket," Huse said.

Yatera will major in Computer Science at Northern and is a solid student.

"Pathe is an extremely diligent person off the court as well," Huse said. "With his work ethic in the classroom, he will set a positive example for our younger student-athletes to follow."
