ERIN KAY LEWIS obituary

Erin Kay Lewis, 26, died May 18, 2003, from injuries sustained in an accident at her Havre residence.

Rosary will be held today at 7 p.m. at the St. Paul's Mission Recreation Center in Hays. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at the St. Paul's Catholic

Church in Hays with burial to follow in the family cemetery at Three Buttes.

Erin was born in Havre on Sept. 18, 1976. She attended Hays/Lodge Pole grade school, Harlem Junior High and Wahpeton Boarding School where she graduated from 8th-grade. She attended Flandreau Indian School for a short time and then transferred to Hays/Lodge Pole High School. She moved to live with her mother in Pablo where she began attending Two Eagle River High School and received her GED in 1996.

Erin had a friendly disposition and made friends easily, but also possessed a quick flash temper. While living in Pablo, she met Jesse Janssen and fell in love.

Erin was registered at Salish Kootenai College and was going to be a nurse. In 1999 she attended Fort Belknap College and earned an associate of arts in human services. She moved to Havre. She worked as a receptionist, hostess, cashier, firefighter and most important, a mother. She was fascinated by all aspects of astrology, including dream interpretation and read up on it. She enjoyed watching movies, visiting with people both friends and strangers, cruising around, working out and keeping fit, and spending time with her family. She loved people.

Erin was preceded in death by her grandfather, Walter DeCelles; and great-grandfather, James B. Snow.

Survivors include her dearest friend and companion, Jesse Janssen Sr. of Hays; son, Jesse David Janssen Jr. of Hays; mother, Michelle Lewis of Hays; father, William DeCelles of Dodson; half-brothers, William and Phillip, both of Dodson; sister, Courtney Werk of Hays; brother, Earl Werk of Hays; grandmothers, Judith Gray and Gertrude Werk, both of Hays, Cecelia DeCelles of Fort Belknap Agency, and Ann Lewis of Shiprock, N.M.; grandfather, Russell Lewis of Albuquerque, N.M.; great-grandmother, Bertha Snow of Hays; great-grandfather, Ben Lewis of Shiprock, N.M.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook.
