Suek commits to play volleyball at Jamestown

Another member of the Havre High School Class of 2003 has recently announced that she will continue her athletic career at the collegiate level.

Former Blue Pony volleyball player Sara Suek recently signed an NAIA letter of intent to play volleyball for Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Suek will play outside hitter for the Jimmies, who are led by head coach Chris Mahoney. The Jimmies play in the Dakota Athletic Conference.

Suek, who was recently selected to play in the Montana All-Star Volleyball Classic, played for three seasons for the Havre High varsity volleyball team. In 2003, she averaged 2.67 digs per game and finished her senior season with a 94.8 hitting percentage. She was also selected to the Central A All-Conference team in each of the past two seasons.

Suek, who recently graduated from Havre High with a 3.88 GPA, will major in nursing at Jamestown, and said that school and volleyball were big factors in her decision to go to college in North Dakota.

"I have always planned on majoring in nursing," Suek said. "So at Jamestown I can play volleyball, and they have a four-year nursing degree, so it works out perfect.

"I have always wanted to play college volleyball," Suek added. "Now I have that chance and I am really excited about it."

Besides volleyball, Suek also excelled in basketball and tennis at Havre High School. Suek played two seasons of varsity basketball for the Blue Ponies and also played two seasons at the varsity level in tennis.
