TEMPIE POWELL obituary

CASPER, Wyo. - Tempie Powell, 68, of Casper, Wyo., formerly of Havre, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service was held on May 23 at College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry D. White officiating. Interment was at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Tempie was born on July 25, 1934, in Nolan, Texas, to Alphonso Brown and Leanora (Bland) Terry.

Tempie married Jesse Oran Powell in Carlsbad, N.M., on July 3, 1954.

They lived in Havre from 1973 through 1984. She earned her GED in Havre in 1981 and attended Northern Montana College. They moved to Casper in 1984.

Tempie loved to garden, sew, attend Bible study, and was a prayer adviser for the Christian Women's Club in Casper. She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by he parents, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse Powell of Casper; daughters, Jacquelynn Leah (Jerry) Watkins of Casper, Virgina (Jon) Kuhlman of Casper, Charlena Renee (Ken) Rauch of Casper, Malynda Neilson of Casper; sons, Jessie O. (Tina) Powell Jr. of Casper and Dalton Lee (Christina) Powell of Casper; stepsisters, Elma Greenley and Martha Snyder of El Paso, Texas; stepbrother, George Snyder of Van Horn, Texas; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
