BIG SANDY - Norma Lucille (Krumsick) Ophus, 72, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at a Big Sandy medical center of natural causes.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Big Sandy High

School gymnasium with the Rev. Peter Guthneck officiating, with a com-

mittal ser-

vice following at the Big Sandy Cemetery. A potluck fellowship luncheon will follow the interment at the Jerry Martin Memorial Hall on Main Street in Big Sandy.

Memorials in Norma's honor may be made to the Big Sandy Medical Center, P.O. Box 530, Big Sandy, MT 59520; the Big Sandy Fire and Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 476, Big Sandy, MT 59520; or to a person's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home in Havre.

Norma was born Feb. 12, 1931, to William and Gwendolyn (Remington) Krumsick in Big Sandy. She attended school in Big Sandy and graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1949.

On June 12, 1949, she married Laurence Ophus at the Lone Tree Hall in a surprise ceremony that was to be their wedding shower. Since 1979, she and Laurence wintered in Yuma, Ariz., and made lasting friends with fellow "snowbirds" from all over the United States and Canada.

Norma was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Methodist Church, and the Women's International Bowling Congress. She was skilled at crochet, making many beautiful dolls and afghans for her home and family through her years. She also enjoyed dancing, bowling, beadwork, playing cards, washoe, camping, classic car jaunts in their 1962 Chevy car or pickup, her many friends, and most especially her family.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gwendolyn (Remington) Krumsick and parents-in-law, Anton and Pearl Ophus.

Survivors include her husband, Laurence Ophus of Big Sandy; sister, Wilma (Pat) Welty of Big Sandy; son, Larry (Verla) Ophus of Big Sandy; daughters, Nora (Doug) Grubb of Big Sandy, Dar (Thadd) Gifford and Karolee (Roger) Pearson, both of Great Falls, and Dede (Monte) Reichelt of Havre; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with two more expected.
