Meeting is set on landlords' water billing complaints

The Water and Sewer Committee of the Havre City Council will meet next Tuesday at 7 p.m. to consider water billing complaints from local landlords.
At a City Council meeting on Monday night, committee chair Dana West said the committee will consider committee member Allen "Woody" Woodwick's suggestion that the city collect a water deposit to protect landlords from having to pay the water bills of tenants who waste water or leave without paying their bill. An ordinance on the books since 1997 makes landlords ultimately responsible for the water bill for rentals.
