LUCILLE MAYER obituary

HARLEM - Lucille Mildred Mayer, 94, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at a Havre care center of natural causes.

A memorial service is pending. Cremation has taken place with entombment at the Portland Memorial Mausoleum in Portland, Ore.

Lucille was born on June 10, 1909, in Harlem to Ole and Viola (Cecil) Nelson. She graduated from Harlem High School in 1927 and worked in the local the-

ater, grocery store and Montana Power office.

Lucille married Jack Mayer on Oct. 30, 1929 in Chinook. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage. Jack died in 1985.

They moved from Harlem in the 1940s and resided in Portland, Ore. She was a housewife during those years.

In June 1997, she moved to Havre and resided with relatives and at Northern Montana Care Center.

Lucille was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Portland Trailblazers basketball games. She enjoyed listening to music and doing flower gardening.

In her youth, she attended the E.U.B. Church in Harlem and sang in the choir.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Mayer; and sisters, Vivian Yeoman, Emma Foote, Evelyn Nelson and Lillian Upshaw.

Survivors include her sister, Selma Conner of Havre; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
