Accident blocks First Street traffic


A runaway grain truck slammed into an SUV Friday afternoon, causing a three-vehicle accident that blocked westbound traffic on First Street in Havre for several hours.

A 5-year-old boy was taken to the hospital following the collision, Havre police said today. Police said his injuries, if any, were minor.

The wreck occurred about 12:40 p.m. Friday at the intersection of First Street and Seventh Avenue. The air brakes of a 1977 GMC grain truck failed as it descended the viaduct, Havre police Lt. George Tate said. The 36-year-old driver, unable to stop the truck at the intersection, attempted...
