Pony boys rally on second day of G.F. Inviational

GREAT FALLS - After getting that first tournament round of the season out of their system, the Havre High golf teams came back to play even better on the second day of the Great Falls Invitational at Eagle Falls Golf Course.

The Blue Pony boys squad improved their second round total by eight shots compared to its first round. The leap pushed the Ponies past seven teams in front of them and leaving them in eighth place out of 18 teams.

Trent Normandy led the Ponies firing a second-round 75 for a two-day total of 152, which was just two strokes out of the top 10.

Chazz Hurlburt rallied from a tough first-round 86, to shoot a solid 77 in the second round to finish at 163. Tony Jensen put up his second 84 of the tournament while Matt Hedstrom also showed significant improvement with shooting 87 after a first-round 95.

For the Pony girls, Brittany Job couldn't replicate her first round 84, but her second-round 101 still allowed her to finish in a tie for ninth place.

The girls squad finished in 11th place out of 13 teams, but had to play with just four golfers on Tuesday. Kim Bryson withdrew from the tourney with back spasms leaving just Job, Ali Ward (118), Catlin Anderson (128) and Morgan Zimmer (122) to score for the team.

The Ponies will get a day of practice before heading to Lewistown for the Judith Shadows Invitational on Friday.
