Normandy captures individual honors in East Glacier, HHS boys finish second

The Havre High golf team had another successful weekend of golf as the fall season continued on Friday afternoon with the Browning Invitational.

The Browning tournament was held at the East Glacier Lodge Golf Course and the Blue Pony boys team finished in second place, as it was edged out of the team-title honors by the Whitefish junior varsity team.

Trent Normandy captured medalist honors for the Ponies with a 3-over-par round of 77. Ben Erickson was next for the Ponies with an 81 and Brandon Job also fired a solid 85. Freshmen Matt Hedstrom added an 89 along with senior Chazz Hurlburt and Tony Jensen rounded out the Ponies day with a 92.

"I think it shows the depth of the Whitefish team if the JV team can come in and win this meet," Evenson said. "We did put up one of our higher teams scores of the year."

On the girls side of things, Brittany Job fired a solid 93 to lead the way for Havre. Job's round was good enough to tie for third place overall as Lewistown's Caitlyn Flament took medalist honors with a 92.

Morgan Zimmer was next for the Ponies with a 109 and senior Catlin Anderson shot 111. Freshmen Alli Ward came in with a 114 and Kim Bryson rounded out the Blue Ponies day with a 118.

"Our girls getting better every week," Evenson said. "The girls scored 427 which is by far their lowest team score of the year. Brittany played really solid and was just one stroke off the leader."

Next up for Havre will be a trip to Anaconda and a tournament on Friday at the Anaconda Country Club.
