ALMA ROBINSON obituary

GILDFORD - Alma Wilhelmina (Kaiser) Robinson, 96, died on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, in a Chester nursing home.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Osoyoos Christian Center in Osoyoos, British Columbia, followed by burial at the Osoyoos Cemetery.

Alma was born to William and Helena (Westendorf) Kaiser on Jan. 1, 1907, at Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada. She received her formal education at a country school near Wetaskiwin; then obtained nursing skills at a local hospital in the few years that followed.

Alma married Hubert C. Robinson at Wetaskiwin on Nov. 26, 1926. Hubert was an Assembly of God minister, so he served as pastor in several churches throughout British Columbia during the first 15 years of their marriage. In addition to being a minister's wife, homemaker and mother of three, Alma also worked part time as a nurse's aide in various hospital and nursing homes and served as a babysitter during many of those years. The Robinsons moved to Deer Park, Wash., in 1947; to Miles City in 1956; to Scobey in 1961; to Libby in 1965; and returned to Osoyoos, B.C., in 1975. After 63 years of ministerial service, Hubert retired in 1981. He died in 1988. They were married for 62 years. Alma remained in Osoyoos until 1996, when she moved to Gildford to be near her son, Charles. Later that fall, she suffered several strokes, so she moved to the Liberty County Nursing Home in Chester. She lived at the Chester nursing home until her death.

Alma was active in church-related organizations over the years and she was always there to help with receptions, dinners and other church functions. She loved to read her Bible and religious publications.

Alma's other interests included vegetable gardening, canning, cooking and picnics. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. She loved people and was loyal to her old parishioners and friends with her frequent letters and annual Christmas greetings.

Alma and her husband were always formal and prudent in their dealing with people. They were deeply devoted to their family and their church, and they always exhibited the utmost respect for their elders, their leaders and their country.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two children, David Robinson in 1993 and Viola Wilhelm in August 2003; brother, George Kaiser; and sisters, Della Kaiser and Charlotte Lidderdale.

Survivors include her son, Charlie (Kay) Robinson of Gildford; daughter, Joyce House of Las Cruces, N.M.; sisters, Anne Sheeler of Leduc, Alberta, and Gertrude Ryall of Kelowna, British Columbia; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
