Sprinkle, Barsotti pace cross country club in Cut Bank

The Havre High boys cross country club ran to a fifth-place finish at a windy and cold Cut Bank Invitational on Friday.

Seniors Jeff Sprinkle and Kasey Barsotti finished in the top 10 to pace the squad. Sprinkle finished in fourth place with a time of 16:50 while Barsotti crossed the finish line in eighth with a 17:06. Browning's Ryan Running Crane won the boys individual title and helped lead his team to the boys title.

Havre's Marcus Campbell and Cody McLean finished in 41st and 42nd place respectively while Will Long and Jeff Hedstrom came in in 58th and 62nd.

"Everybody was just a little off," said head coach Ron Watson. "It way pretty windy day and it definitely affected us a little. It certainly affect everyone's times."

Still there were positives in the race for Watson.

"I was pretty pleased," he said. "We're on schedule where we want to be in our training. We're starting to run and train as a team. Will had a tremendous improvement in his time and Cody passed at least three runners just before the finish. "

The cross country club will head to Lewistown this weekend to compete they usually do well at.

"They've changed the course a little," Watson said. "It's a fairly tough course with some tough hills. But in the past we have run really well at this meet."
