GARRETT MCHENRY obituary

CHINOOK - Garrett Maurice Campbell McHenry, 23, of Chinook died in a single vehicle accident east of Chinook on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Lloyd Sweet Auditorium in Chinook High School with burial in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery with military honors to follow.

Garrett was born July 5, 1980, in LaMesa, Calif., to Leta Campbell.

Garrett attended schools in Great Falls and Chinook, and graduated from Chinook High School in 1999. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 23, 1999, and was honorably discharged on June 23, 2003. He proudly served his country and lived the Army values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless-service, honor, integrity and personal courage.

Garrett loved sports of all kinds, particularly baseball, softball, and football. He was a died-in-the-wool Denver Broncos and Atlanta Braves fan. He thought the only pickup truck ever built was a Ford. He was a paper carrier for the Great Falls Tribune for five years and worked at Columbia Grain summers and after school. If someone needed help wrestling calves for spring branding, he was always ready to help.

Shooting gophers, hunting or fishing were the best ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. He loved laughing and partying with his friends, particularly with a can of Bud Light in his hand.

Garrett was preceded in death by his grandfather, Maurice Campbell.

Survivors include his mother, Leta Campbell of Chinook; grandmother, Eva Campbell of Chinook; stepfather, R.E. McHenry; stepbrothers, Brian and Jeffrey McHenry of Mason City, Iowa; stepsisters, Kristie Webster and Katie McHenry of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; aunt, Marcene (Perry) Chapman of Lakeside, Calif.; uncle, Larry (Carol) Campbell of Bremerton, Wash.; and numerous cousins.
