Mildred was born on Oct. 25, 1915, at Casady, north of Chinook, to Ledden and Stella (Wiseman) Casady. She grew up on the family homestead and received her formal education at a country school near the farm. She taught Sunday school to area children in the hayloft of the family barn. In the winter, she rode to school bareback to take advantage of the horse's warmth. She continued to enjoy horseback riding over the years. Her last ride was on her granddaughter's horse in Libby in the summer of 1999.

After the Adams moved to a farm seven miles south of Rudyard, Millie worked as a farm wife, homemaker and mother of eight. In later years, they made their home in Inverness.

Millie remained in Inverness for a few years after Vic died in 1990, then lived in Hamilton until 1996, when she moved to Spokane, Wash. Her health began to fail the following year, so she moved into the Northern Montana Care Center.

Millie enjoyed music of all kinds and playing the piano. She also enjoyed playing cards of all kinds. She taught of all of her grandchildren to play kings in the corner. Millie was noted for her flower gardens. She liked her flip-flops and big earrings and never liked to be seen without her makeup and her hair just right. She enjoyed camping fishing, cooking and baking, especially for family gatherings.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Vic; parents, Ledden and Stella Casady; sisters, Helen Peelman and Valeria Waldrip; and brothers, Cedric, Clinton, Robert and Keith Casady.
